Marcus Rashford put United ahead with a brilliant run and strike, the forward’s ninth goal in nine games in all competitions since the World Cup in Qatar – the most of any player in Europe’s big five leagues.
The 23-year-old Nketiah headed home from close range to level the score in a frantic first half with the game at the Emirates fully living up to expectations.
Bukayo Saka’s flashing drive gave Mikel Arteta’s side the lead eight minutes after the break but United were back on level terms six minutes later as Argentinian Lisandro Martinez scored his first goal for United.
The World Cup winner taking advantage of Aaron Ramsdale’s mistake to float a header into the net.
But there was late, late drama as former England U-21 striker Nketiah touched home Martin Odegaard’s mishit shot – further improving his scoring stats – and, after a tense check for offside by the Video Assistant Referee, the roof came off the Emirates.
Nketia became the second Arsenal player to score a 90th minute winner against Man United in the Premier League after Frenchman Thierry Henry in January 2007.
