Lando Norris expressed his delight for McLaren’s pace after the Brit set a second-fastest time, only a couple of tenths behind Max Verstappen.
The 23-year-old even went as far as they might have a sniff at victory on Sunday, despite admitting Red Bull will be tough to beat.
“I think it was a good Friday,” Norris said after practice. “A good start to the weekend anyway. It’s close, so it seems it could swing very quickly either way. I did a very good lap, maybe too good for this early in the weekend! We’ll continue to try to improve, but it’s a good start.”
Norris is currently on great streak of 4 consecutive podium finishes and he will certainly be looking to extend it. McLaren has had a tremendous progress in recent months with the team jumping to P4 in the Constructors and even eyeing Ferrari for P3.
