The NY Giants have benched the struggling Daniel Jones and will announce Tommy DeVito as their new starting QB.
The benching of Daniel begins the process of the last-place New York moving on from the QB they inked to a 4-year, 160 million dollar contract less than 2 seasons ago.
DeVito will have his 1st start in the upcoming weekend vs. the Bucs at the Big Apple. The Giants (2-8), who are coming off their bye week, can count on veteran Drew Lock, who has served as Daniel’s reserve for every match in the current campaign.

The change of the QB position comes with 7 matches in the Giants’ campaign. Another reason for benching Jones right now is that the GM, Joe Schoen, will try to avoid paying another 23 million dollars to Daniel in case he gets injured until the end of the campaign and given the fact that the team can’t advance to the postseason, starting DeVito until the end of the campaign makes the most sense for the franchise and of the ownership. The Broncos did the same with Wilson in the past.
