Connor McDavid scored two goals and Leon Draisaitl also netted in the third period to lift Edmonton Oilers to a 4-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers in front of 18,347 spectators at Rogers Place on Tuesday night.

McDavid (545 games) became the fastest active player to record 800 career points, besting Sidney Crosby (571 games) by 26 games.

Draisaitl also had a night to remember, recording his 700th NHL point in his ninth NHL season.

Stuart Skinner stopped 23 shots, including huge saves in the final period.

Noah Cates opened the scoring halfway through the first, powering a wrap-around under Skinner. Despite having a quiet first period, the Oilers escaped in a 1-1 tied thanks to a power play goal by Tyson Barrie with 2.9 ticks on the clock.

In the second, Kevin Hayes threw the puck in front and Owen Tippett knifed it past Skinner.

The Oilers (31-19-8) will visit the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
