Oklahoma City Thunder leader Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will not be on the court until after the All-Star break because of an abdominal strain, the franchise revealed today.
The problem will keep the reigning MVP out for at least 5 matches, starting with today’s game vs. the San Antonio Spurs away from home. Shai will also miss the All-Star Game.
OKC shared that their star will be reevaluated after the break.
The Thunder superstar had been uncertain for yesterday’s 128-92 victory against the Magic after Shai was listed as questionable with a right index finger sprain and illness. Despite that, Gilgeous-Alexander played and helped with 20 points and 9 assists for the triumph.
Shai extended his series of matches with at least 20 points to 121 but was close to ending it as he notched his 20th point from the free throw line with only 2 minutes until the end of the match.
He is within 5 to even Wilt Chamberlain’s record of 126 consecutive matches with at least 20 points, as Gilgeous-Alexander will try to tie and beat this record when he returns after the All-Star Game.
