The Ottawa Senators will forfeit a 1st round draft selection for their role during the offseason in 2021 of the trade of Evgenii Dadonov to the Golden Knights and the subsequently invalidated March 2022 deal that made the player to change teams again as he became part of the Ducks.
Sens will forfeit its 1st round selection in 1 of the 2024, 2025, or 2026 National Hockey League drafts. The NHL franchise from Canada will make that decision within a day of the draft lottery campaign’s conclusion.

In March 2022, Vegas traded Dadonov to Anaheim along with a conditional 2nd round selection for John Moore and the deal of Ryan Kesler. But only hours after the exchange became public, the Golden Knights announced it had “become aware of a problem with respect to the exchange” and are discussing it with the NHL office.
