The Canadian capital will be honored to host the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship; Hockey Canada shared the great news today.
The annual championship will be back in Ottawa for the 1st time since 2009, when Canada triumphed with their 5th straight gold-medal with a victory against Sweden in the championship game. That was the only time that the capital of Canada hosted the tournament.
The 2025 World Juniors will start on December 26th, 2024, and end on January 5th, 2025, at the Canadian Tire Centre, where the Ottawa Senators play their matches in the NHL.
“We are very happy that the IIHF World Junior Championship will return to Canada and Ottawa in 2025,” claimed Pat McLaughlin, COO of Hockey Canada. “The bid that was submitted for us to welcome the tournament was very solid, and we cannot wait for fans in our country and the world to see how we will celebrate the game on the ice that we all love.
