Packers will appoint Gannon as the defensive coordinator

The Green Bay Packers will hire the ex-Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon as their DC.

Packers want LaFleur to continue as head coach of the team

Jonathan will replace Jeff Hafley, who became the Dolphins’ manager in the past week after 2 campaigns running Green Bay’s defense.

With the Packers, Gannon will take over a defense that features reigning 1^st-team All-Pro DE Micah Parsons and 2nd-team All-Pro safety Xavier McKinney. Gannon will become the 4^th DC in coach Matt LaFleur’s 8 years with the team.

Hafley’s successful 2-year stint followed 2 two coordinators who were let go – Pettine and Barry.

Jonathan was dismissed by Arizona after a 3-14 record in the current campaign and went 15-36 in 3 campaigns as the Cardinals’ boss. The Packers’ head coach likes the fact that his new defensive coordinator has experience in the NFL as a manager.

LaFleur inked a deal extension with Green Bay this month, while the GM Gutekunst and vice president/director of football operations Ball are expected to sign new contracts soon.
