Reinhart and Montour both on the scoresheet

The Florida Panthers managed to snatch a tight overtime 3-2 win over Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.

Brandon Montour goal 1:41 into overtime was enough for Florida to triumph. Anton Lundell and Sam Reinhart also scored to help the Panthers end their 4-game losing streak. Goaltender Alex Lyon made 38 saves as Florida climbed just one point behind Pittsburgh for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference.

Zach Aston-Reese and Auston Matthews scored for the Maple Leafs, as goaltender Ilya Samsonov saved 26 shots.

The Toronto team had a chance to win it as they were leading 2-1 before Reinhart’s shot drew the score level with 1 minute remaining in regulation time.

“Played a good game,” Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe said.

“Didn’t score enough to win and then made some mistakes at the end. Cost us the extra point.”
