The Carolina Panthers have chosen defensive lineman Derrick Brown‘s 5th year option in his contract over cornerback Henderson’s.
That means Brown will stay with the team through the 2024 campaign, in which he will earn $11.66 million.
Browns was the first-round pick in 2020 and will be moving to defensive end position after registering 67 tackles, stopping 7 passes and having an interception in 2022. Last year he was nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the year award.
In comparison Henderson was a first-round draft pick for Jacksonville in 2020 and was brought by the Panthers in 2021 in a deal that send third-round pick and tight end Dan Arnold to the Jaguars. Despite all this Henderson still remain under contract for the 2023 campaign.
