2024 Paris Olympics organizers plan to hold some swimming events in the River Seine, but have suffered another setback with the cancellation of swimming from a triathlon test event.
Less than a year before the Olympics, which will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024, this is another fortnightly event that has not been held as planned due to the quality of the river’s water.
Earlier this month, the open water swim test was canceled and on Saturday the triathlon was reduced to a duathlon consisting of only cycling and running.
The reason for it is the high concentration of the bacterium Escherichia coli in the river. Analyzes of three samples along the course showed levels exceeding the regulatory maximum limit of 1,000 CFU (colony forming units) per 100 ml set by the International Triathlon Union.
