Detroit’s coach Derek Lalonde confirmed that he expects the new signing to be available for the upcoming clash.
The 35-year-old underwent surgery six month ago to repair hip damage, hoping to become only the third NHL player to come back from the invasive procedure.
The Red Wings signed the veteran a week ago for the rest of the season to bolster his chances of making it to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
The three-time Stanley Cup champion and 2016 NHL MVP stated that he feels significantly better than the last time he played on May 1 for the New York Rangers against New Jersey in Game 7 of their first-round series.
