The deal mean that the 26-year-old will reunite with his former boss Unai Emery, who was the head-coach of Villareal from 2020 to 2023.
Torres has been a part of Villareal ever since he joined their youth academy in 2003 and has made 179 appearances for the club, scoring 12 times.
His impressive run of form lately has earned him a call from the national team, where he has gathered 23 caps.
The defender made his professional debut for the Yellow Submarine in 2016 and was part of the team that won the 2021 Europa League.
He has played for Spain since 2019, participating both in the 2020 Euros and 2022 World Cup.
Torres becomes Aston Villa’s second summer signing after Youri Tielemans joined the Birmingham team as a free agent from the relegated Leicester City.
