The Catalan giants’ injury problems have deepened with Pedri sidelined after sustaining a hamstring tear in the aftermath of the match against Real Madrid. He was close to being at his full fitness, but now joins a group of stars that are out – Raphinha, Gavi, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, which makes it hard for Hansi Flick to be competitive on all fronts.
Barca has announced that Pedri will be out for a few weeks, as he didn’t have the power to train after the loss of El Clásico, and he was assessed by the medical team of his club.
The midfielder would not have been available for Barcelona’s next match vs. Elche because of a suspension, but now he will be out for several weeks. Now the German boss of the Catalan team will have to trust academy graduates like Marc Casado, Marc Bernal, Fermin Lopez, and Dro Fernandez in the upcoming games of Barca in the midfield.
