The New Orleans Pelicans have dismissed executive vice president David Griffin, the franchise shared today.
David spent the last 6 years as the head of basketball operations for New Orleans. The team went 209-263 under his leadership, with 2 playoff appearances during that time.

His period was marked by the Anthony Davis trade to the Lakers in 2019 and picking Zion Williamson in the same year with 1st overall selection.
New Orleans got 3 basketballers – Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart – and 3 1st-round selections, including the No. 4 pick in 2019, in exchange for Anthony.
Zion, meanwhile, has played below 50% of his possible matches with New Orleans and has never appeared in the postseason after sustained problems prior to both of the organization’s playoff berths in 2022 and 2024.
New Orleans ended this campaign at 21-61 – the 4th worst in the NBA, as the only 3 teams that finished below them were Jazz, Wizards, and Hornets.
The Pelicans lost 16 of its 1st 20 matches at the beginning of the season as Murray, Williamson, and Ingram never stepped foot on the court together since the opening match, with Ingram traded to the Raptors in February.
