Marc-Andre Fleury will step back onto Pittsburgh ice one last time as the Penguins announced that the three-time Stanley Cup champion has signed a professional tryout contract so he can be eligible for Sept. 27 preseason match against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
He’ll also join the team for practice the day before, giving fans one more chance to see him in black and gold.

“The entire Penguins organization is honored to welcome Marc-André Fleury back to the ice in Pittsburgh,” general manager Kyle Dubas said in a statement. “Marc means so much to our team, our fans and the City of Pittsburgh because of the person he is and the example he set. We feel he and his family are most-deserving of this opportunity to celebrate this full-circle moment back where it all started.”
Fleury retired this past spring after 22-year NHL career with Pittsburgh, Vegas, Chicago and Minnesota. Over 13 seasons in Pittsburgh, Fleury became the franchise’s all-time leader in nearly every goalie category, including games played (691), wins (375) and shutouts (44), while being instrumental for championships in 2009, 2016 and 2017.
