Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey was named the National Basketball Association’s most improved basketballer today, leaving behind him Chicago Bulls player Coby White and Houston Rockets basketballer Alperen Sengun.
The Philly’s guard (23) had a breakthrough campaign, averaging career highs in points almost 26, almost 4 boards, over 6 assists and steal while being named an All-Star for the 1st time after he started playing point guard full-time after James Harden joined the Clippers.
The 76ers player had 51 1st-place votes as he totaled 319 points. White finished 2nd with 305 points, and Sengun 3rd with 92 points.
“It feels phenomenal,” Tyrese shared after winning the trophy. “Somebody like myself who is proud of putting in a lot of work, outworking others, and trying to get 1% better every time I get in the gym feels great to be appreciated by others.”
Maxey was the 20th overall selection at the 2020 NBA Draft in Kentucky. The Most Improved Basketballer was the 1st of the NBA’s campaign-long awards to be announced as the next will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
“We still had chances to win the game. … We can’t dwell on that, we can’t leave the games in other people’s hands, we’ve gotta go out there and take it.”
