Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Chelsea do not have a designated penalty taker and decision is being made on the pitch.
The Blues were rewarded a penalty last time around against Arsenal and an on-field incident occurred between Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling. The two seemed to be arguing for who should take it.
In the end Enzo Fernandez stepped it, seemingly suggesting Palmer should be the one with the responsibility and so it happened.
“There are a few players, who can take the penalty. It’s about their feelings. As a coaching staff we give them the responsibility to decide on the pitch” Pochettino said.
“It’s not only one player, that this player is going to be in charge. It shows that Cole was ready to take the two penalties he took.”
“For me the most important thing is to have the decision and the personality to go.”
Palmer did convert the penalty, which gave the Blues a 2-0 lead, but unfortunately for them, they let it slip and had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
