Reece James will be available for Chelsea’s clash against Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
The Blues’ captain has not made the starting sheets for almost 3 months, since the opening day of the Premier League against Liverpool in August. He has had only a handful of minutes coming off the bench against Arsenal and Brentford.
However, Pochettino was keen to reveal the right-back will be making a comeback, despite usually keeping his first-team choice a secret.
“I can confirm he is going to start,” Pochettino said.
“The captain is ready. It’s good for the team, it’s good for him to start from the beginning. We can see after, checking always how he is performing.”
Chelsea are enduring another difficult season with the Blues notching only 12 points from 10 games and sitting in an unimpressive 11th place. Therefore, the Stamford Bridge team will be looking for every possibility to make up for their poor form and the Carabao Cup is one such chance.
