Mauricio Pochettino, who will most certainly be announced as new Chelsea manager, is already making plans for what the team will look like under his leadership next year. Daily Mail surprisingly claims that he is very seriously considering giving Romelu Lukaku another chance at the heart of the attack of the Blues.
The Belgian striker had a great campaign with Inter in 2021, but was sold to Chelsea in the summer of 2021. Under Thomas Tuchel, he performed well below expectations and failed to show the game that made the Londoners pay. It was for this reason that he was returned to the Nerazzurri on loan last year. The striker again failed to show a high level mainly because of the series of injuries that prevented him from getting in good shape.
However, Pochettino believes that with good training, Lukaku can once again return to his familiar level and bring much-needed goals to Chelsea, who have scored just 30 goals in 31 games this season. However, the expectation is that if everything goes as planned and Pochettino is appointed, he will have a clear conversation about his vision for the team with the Belgian, after which a final decision will be made about his future.
