The Argentinian was sent off by official Thomas Bramall for a high tackle on Ryan Christie in the 2nd half, which meant that Alexis would miss the matches vs. Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Wolverhampton.
Mac Allister, whom the Reds bought during the current transfer window from Brighton, was making his debut at Liverpool’s stadium. Jurgen Klopp shared after the game that his team would appeal the midfielder’s red card, and the English Football Association decided that the appeal has right.
Even the Cherries’ head coach Andoni Iraola said after the game that Mac Allister’s foul didn’t look like a red card.
Klopp added after the victory that he understands why the referee showed the red from his point of view, but when you watch it on replay, it’s clear that a direct red card is too harsh a punishment.
