Donnarumma was the main man at Anfield, saving two penalty kicks to send his team into the last eight

Paris Saint-Germain have advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals after eliminating Liverpool in a dramatic penalty shootout. Following a tense 1-1 aggregate draw, Gianluigi Donnarumma emerged as the hero, saving two penalties to secure PSG’s spot in the next round.

Liverpool started strongly, with Mohamed Salah testing PSG’s defense twice in the opening six minutes, but Nuno Mendes and a wayward shot denied him. In the 12th minute, PSG struck first through Ousmane Dembélé, who finished into an empty net after a defensive lapse by Liverpool.

Dembélé had a golden chance to double the lead in the 32nd minute but overhit his touch when through on goal. Liverpool thought they had equalized in the 53rd minute when Dominik Szoboszlai found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside on Luis Díaz earlier in the move.

The Reds continued to push, with Díaz forcing a brilliant save from Donnarumma in the 58th minute and Andy Robertson’s cross leading to a Cuanza header off the post in the 79th. In stoppage time, Desiree Due narrowly missed the target with a dangerous shot.

With neither team able to break the deadlock, the match went to extra time, where Alisson Becker made a stunning save to deny Dembélé in the 109th minute. The tie was ultimately decided by penalties, where PSG converted all their attempts while Donnarumma denied Darwin Núñez and Curtis Jones, sealing a thrilling victory for the Parisians.
