PSG were shockingly beaten by an inferior Rennes side in their first home defeat in the French league this season on Sunday.

Karl Toko Ekambi opened the scoring right before half-time to give Rennes the lead.
In the second half nothing appeared to change in PSG as the team looked slow and unimaginative, relying more on the individual skill of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi rather than a team effort.
But even the two superstars were sloppy and lacklustre and didn’t bring any fireworks. Mbappe had two good chances in the first half, but both were denied by excellent goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.
Arnaud Kalimuendo deservedly doubled the lead for the visiting side in the 48th as he refused to celebrate out of respect for his former team.
PSG stars could be heard being whistled by their own supporters. The French team currently sits comfortably at the top of the French League, 7 points ahead of second-placed Marseille.
With the team’s rather anticlimactic exit in the Champions League last 16 tie to Bayern Munich, and a surprising collapse against Marseille in Coupe de France back in February, this is turning into yet another frustrating season for the demanding PSG supporters, despite the strong likelihood of the club retaing the League title.
