Andy’s phenomenal career, unfortunately, finished as he and doubles partner Dan Evans were defeated in straight sets by American pair Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul in the Olympics ¼ finals on clay less than 24 hours ago.
The Scottish, regarded as 1 of Britain’s greatest athletes after winning Wimbledon 2 times and reaching ATP world number 1, revealed that he will no longer play professional tennis after the Olympics.
Queens, a warm-up competition for Wimbledon, where Andy won 5 titles, shared the news about the Andy Murray Arena soon after his final match.
“Murray is the greatest tennis player ever to come from Britain and a giant of tennis,” LTA chief executive Scott Lloyd revealed. “His contribution to tennis can’t be measured and made so many people proud during his career. Murray was relentless in his pursuit of excellence and thanks to that, he was able to achieve so much despite the phenomenal competition that he faced.”
