The Los Angeles Rams and CB Trent McDuffie reached an agreement on a record 4-year, 124 million dollar extension that features 100 million dollars guaranteed.
The new deal makes the cornerback the highest-paid in his position in league history.
A few days ago, LA agreed to acquire Trent from the Chiefs for a package of selections that includes the 29th pick this year. The trade and a deal could become official in 2 days at the beginning of the new NFL year.
Trent was entering the final campaign of his rookie contract. Last year, Kansas City exercised its 5th-year option, making his salary over 13.5 million this year fully guaranteed.
McDuffie will now make much more than that as his new contract pays him 31 million dollars per year. That’s more than Indianapolis CB Sauce Gardner and Houston’s CB Derek Stingley Jr., as both earn 1 million dollar less than him annually.
CB was a priority for Los Angeles starting free agency and the draft, as they had 4 pending free agents as cornerbacks. CB Darious Williams also announced his retirement a few days ago.
