Aaron Ramsdale has shared his concern he may lose his No.1 position in England’s goal after being snubbed by Mikel Arteta for David Raya at Arsenal.
Aaron Ramsdale on if he’s concerned about losing his England place ahead of the Euros next summer: “Yes, of course, it is the first time I have found myself in this situation. The 25-year-old has been a regular starter for the Gunners over the past 2 years, but since the start of the new campaign he has lost his place to newcomer Raya.
Reflecting on the matter, Ramsdale said that the lack of playing time might prove costly as he prepares for Euro 2024.
“Yes, of course, it is the first time I have found myself in this situation.” he said.
“The manager here [Gareth Southgate] is brilliant, he trusts the players he’s worked with before as we’ve seen in different types of ways – you’ll see Kalvin [Phillips] and Harry [Maguire] haven’t played the most amount of minutes but when they step up for England and are given the opportunity, they perform.”
Ramsdale further added that he is keen on making a return not only in England and in Arsenal as well. As for his relationship with Raya, he emphasized that their relationship is professional and they work well together, pushing each other to the maximum.
