The Texas team did just enough to snatch victory

The Texas Rangers came out on top against the Houston Astros 2-0 in Game 1 of the AL Championship Series on Sunday night.

The story of the match was the efficiency, shown by Jordan Montgomery, who neutralized the veteran Justin Verlander. The 40-year-old was left with very little breathing space and was totally outplayed.

Montgomery pitched five-hit ball over 6 1/3 innings, while Leody Taveras provided a two-run lead with his solo homer in the fifth.

Rookie Evan Carter impressed once again as he made it 2-0 in the second, while also shining with two clinical defensive plays.

“He just has so much confidence,” Texas manager Bruce Bochy said. “He’s got the youthful enthusiasm and he’s just excited to be here. He’s not in awe of anything, just no fear in this kid since he’s come up.”

So far, the Rangers remain perfect in the playoffs with a score of 6-0. They will be looking to extend that run in Game 2, which kicks off in Houston on Monday.
