New York landed Alex after a trade with Seattle.

The NY Rangers are trading for Seattle Kraken player Alex Wennberg.

The NHL franchise from the Big Apple have been looking for multiple forwards ahead of end of the week’s trade deadline to replace Filip Chytil and Blake Wheeler, who both will miss the rest of the campaign.

Seattle will get a 2nd-round draft selection in this year’s draft and a 4th-rounder in 2025 while paying ½ of Wennberg’s remaining salary.

The 4th-round selection, which originally belonged to Dallas, will become a 3rd-rounder if the Stars player Nils Lundkvist reaches 55 points combined from the last and current campaigns.

Alex is on the final season of a 3-season contract that pays him 4.5 million dollars per campaign. Kraken had discussions with Wennberg about an extension, but he wanted a longer-term contract.

He is considered 1 of the best passers in the NHL and can also help as a winger if his team needs him there.

Wennberg led all Seattle forwards with 18:49 in average ice time, and he had 9 goals and 25 points in 60 matches for his ex-franchise.
