Jim, chairman of chemical company INEOS, has agreed on a deal to buy ¼ stake in the team from Old Trafford for over 1 billion pounds.
The deal features full control of INEOS for all football operations, and the new owner has warned fans that, after years of decline, success will take time.
“I wanted to write to you at this time because of how important the supporters are for the future of our club as we recognize our responsibility as custodians of Manchester United on your behalf, the new minority owner wrote in an open letter to the Man United Supporters Trust (M.U.S.T.).”
Ratcliffe added that he believes the team can return to the top of the Premier League and be competitive in Europe again, but it will take time and patience.
