Quarterback Spencer Rattler announced he plans to return to South Carolina for the 2023 season.
Prior to the season, the consensus was that Rattler would be a one-and-done for the Gamecocks, essentially using Columbia as a steppingstone on his journey to the NFL.
Last season Rattler joined South Carolina from Oklahoma and played his best football at the end of the year. He threw for 3,026 yards ad 18 touchdowns this season with just two interceptions in wins over top-10 foes Tennessee and Clemson in November.
Those victories were the first consecutive wins over top 10 teams in program history and pushed the program’s momentum under Shane Beamer heading into his third campaign to maximum highs.
South Carolina coach Shane Beamer was delighted with the news that Rattler was coming back with a tweet that read: “Here. We. Go!!!!!!!”
Rattler joins his top receiver, Antwane “Justice” Wells, in returning for another season.
