The British was cleared by the internal investigation, but just hours later the evidence was sent to over 200 journalists, team chiefs and F1 directors

Red Bull boss Christian Horner responded to “anonymous speculation” surrounding his misconduct investigation, which gained attention as alleged evidence was circulated just days before the team’s quest for a fourth consecutive Formula 1 drivers’ championship.

The unexpected turn of events occurred during the second practice for the Bahrain Grand Prix when a file, purportedly containing evidence against Horner, was emailed to nearly 200 individuals in the F1 paddock, including Liberty Media, F1, the FIA, team principals, and various media outlets. The authenticity of the files remains unverified, as they originated from a generic email account.

In response to the development, Horner released a statement through a team spokesman, emphasizing that he would not engage in commenting on anonymous speculation. He reiterated his consistent denial of the allegations, emphasizing that he respected the integrity of the independent investigation and fully cooperated with it. Horner underscored the thorough and fair nature of the investigation, conducted by an independent specialist barrister, which concluded by dismissing the complaint against him. He emphasized his unwavering focus on the upcoming season.

“I won’t comment on anonymous speculation, but to reiterate, I have always denied the allegations,” Horner said in a statement read to journalists by a team spokesman; the statement was from Horner, not on behalf of Red Bull.

“I respected the integrity of the independent investigation and fully cooperated with it every step of the way,” Horner said. “It was a thorough and fair investigation conducted by an independent specialist barrister and it has concluded, dismissing the complaint made. I remain fully focused on the start of the season.”

Amidst the unfolding events, Horner, who continued in his role during the internal investigation, conveyed the unity within the Red Bull team. While pleased that the investigation process was concluded, he affirmed the team’s focus on the Grand Prix and the upcoming season.
