Red Bull commented on the way in which Sergio Perez‘s car was removed from the track in Monaco after the Mexican crashed in qualifying. Due to the nature of the Monte Carlo track, cars are craned high into the air in case of trouble. This is of course not desired by the teams as others can see the specifics of the floor and the entire underside of the car.
“Of course we don’t like it. The floor is very important, but if they don’t have the other parts, it will be very difficult for them to copy us. The floor is much more complex, you can see the connection with the front and rear wings. The Mercedes car was longer in the air, but I don’t think anyone cared about it like we did,” Red Bull advisor Dr. Helmut Marko told Motorsport.com.
Christian Horner answered jokingly “It’s very rude to look up people’s skirts”. However, he is sure that all the teams work secretly with photographers and these are not the first photos they get of the Red Bull car.
“Photos are being taken of the car in and around the pits. Each team hires ‘spies’ to film the cars while they are being worked on – this is a common practice. So I don’t think these are the first photos to be taken of our car. They might be the first while it’s up on a crane,” Horner said..
