Daniel Ricciardo has revealed that he is set to drive the Red Bull RB19 after the British Grand Prix in July as part of his third driver duties for the Milton Keynes team.
Ricciardo was demoted to a test driver for his former team after experiencing two very difficult campaigns with McLaren.
He has spent plenty of time in simulator sessions, providing full-time drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez with valuable data and the time for him to step in the 2023’s car has arrived.
“I’ve been in the simulator, but I will drive the RB19 in July after the Silverstone race – I’m getting a Pirelli test,” he said in an interview with ESPN this week.
“Then maybe I’ll get another one after Monza as well in September. A couple of months away and I’ll get to feel what it’s like.”
Ricciardo has 8 victories to his name, 7 of which have come in his first spell at Red Bull. The 33-year-old stated that he is happy taking a break from the action, but admitted he is fully motivated to get back in the mix in the not so distant future.
