Daniel, who only raced in Formula 1 again at the Hungarian GP in July, broke his hand when he crashed during Friday’s 2nd practice session at the Dutch GP.
The AlphaTauri driver went to Spain yesterday to speak with Dr Javier Mir, the doctor who helped Lance Stroll recover from a similar injury at the beginning of the campaign and had surgery today.
The Australian shared the news on social media: “Had procedure this morning, got my first bit of metal work, so that’s amusing. I want to thank everyone who wrote me and kept me positive. This ain’t a setback, just part of my return process”.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner shared that he only rules out Daniel to race at the Italian GP next weekend as after that, he could return.
