Sha’Carri triumphed from Lane 9 as she raced the whole distance for 10.65 seconds, tied the current season’s best time, and set the world championship record.
The American finished above 2 Jamaican sprinters – Shericka Jackson by .07 seconds and 5-time champ Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce by .12.
This was Sha’Carri’s 1st major tournament on the world stage. The American was listed as a 5-1 underdog even though she qualified for the competition as the US champ and outsprinted Jackson the previous 2 times they raced in 2023.
Sha’Carri Richardson will have the chance to finish the comeback with an Olympic gold medal as the Olympics in Paris will start less than 12 months from now.
