La Roja star Rodri has hit out at the officiating standards during Spain’s World Cup ½ final triumph against France, revealing teenage superstar Lamine Yamal is not being protected by the referee.
Despite the triumph, a Man City player was not happy with the official and how he didn’t protect Yamal.
La Roja may be heading for the match for the title after a dominant 2-0 victory vs. France, but captain Rodri had other issues that bothered him. He slammed official Ivan Barton, claiming that the Salvadoran referee allowed the French players to target Barcelona’s superstar with impunity throughout the semifinal.
“Without a doubt, the biggest problem now is that we have been dealing with this situation of the number of fouls for 3 straight matches now,” Rodri claimed after the clash. “I understand some might not be given as fouls, but Yamal goes to the ground 10 or 15 times, gets tackled, and they have to give a foul; otherwise, the opposition players are going to keep doing the same thing. The referee allowed that to happen and didn’t protect Lamine at all.”
🚨🗣Rodri ; We’ve been dealing with this type of situation for three games now. We’re talking about 10 or 15 uncalled fouls. And if we don’t call them, the defenses continue to do the same thing. The permissiveness is obvious,” Rodri stated after the game, via RMC Sport.… pic.twitter.com/t0rVowtSpS
