The Serie A clash between Udinese and Roma came to a halt as Evan Ndicka collapsed on the field.
Ndicka, the 24-year-old Roma defender, fell to the ground off the ball during the 72nd minute of the match, prompting immediate medical attention. He was subsequently stretchered off the pitch.
Despite the efforts of the medical team, Ndicka’s condition caused the match to be abandoned, with the score level at 1-1 at Stadio Friuli.
Roma released a statement confirming that Ndicka had experienced an illness while on the pitch but was conscious when being attended to. The club expressed solidarity with the player and announced his transfer to the hospital for further evaluation.
Following discussions between the referee and both teams, along with consultations with medical staff and emergency services, the decision to abandon the match was made. The announcement was met with applause from both sets of fans.
