Andrey Rublev reached the Shanghai Masters final after beating Grigor Dimitrov 7:6(7); 6:3 in an intriguing semi-final clash. The first set was over one hour and 20 minutes and it looked like it was crucial for the final result.
The first set was very balanced and both players didn’t let their opponent break them until the very end. Dimitrov was serving for 6-5, but Rublev capitalized on a double fault and was one step away from clinching the set.
The Russian, though, also showed shaky hand and lost his game, sending the set into a tiebreak. In it both players were exchanging mini breaks, but Rublev showed cooler head in the decisive moments and won 9-7.
The second part started excellent for Dimitrov, taking an early break, but right after that Rublev switched on a different speed and left the Bulgarian no chance, taking two breaks and winning 6-3.
