Rune comes back from set down to eliminate Dimitrov at Wimbledon

The Dane won 3-1 to square up a quarter final against Alcaraz or Berrettini

Holger Rune put an end on Grigor Dimitrov’s Wimbledon perfect streak and eliminated him at the Round of 16, winning 3:1 6:3, 6:7(6), 6:7 (4), 3:6.

The Dane, who is ranked No. 6 in the world, lost the first set but made a comeback after two tiebreaks. The Bulgarian managed to get e valuable break at the end of the first set and won it 6:3, but the next two sets went to tiebreaks and both times Rune showed cooler nerves and won them to get the game into fourth set.

Both players were neck to neck at the beginning, but Dimitrov made two double faults in the middle of the set and practically gifted his opponent a break before Rune finishing the set 6:3.


The battle between the two on Court 1 lasted almost 3:30 hours and Rune will face either Carlos Alcaraz or Matteo Berrettini.
