After no breaks in the 1st set, the Norwegian player won the set after a tiebreak 7-2. However, the Danish player got back and won the 2nd set after breaking his opponent’s serve twice and losing his serve only once.
Rune was the better player in the deciding set, and after converting 2 break points to close the set 6-2.
Interestingly, Holger won his 1st clash against Ruud as they played 4 matches before that, all on clay, and Casper triumphed in all of them.
The Danish, who also eliminated world number 1 Novak Djokovic, will face in the final Medvedev or Tsitsipas.
Holger Rune on beating Ruud: “I played some of my best tennis in a period of the matches. 1st against Novak, then Casper. Such difficult players to play, I had to find my best tennis. I actually didn’t find it today, only at the end.”
