George Russell claimed a brilliant and unexpected victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, dominating the race from start to finish at the Marina Bay Circuit. Starting from pole position, the Mercedes driver controlled the pace throughout and never allowed his rivals a chance to challenge for the lead.
Behind him, the battle for second place provided plenty of drama. Max Verstappen and Lando Norris were separated by less than a second in the closing laps. Verstappen, who began the race on soft tyres, was forced to pit earlier than most for hard tyres — a move that left him at a disadvantage toward the end. Despite that, the Red Bull driver held off a determined Norris to secure second place.

Oscar Piastri, who had minor contact with his McLaren teammate Norris in the second corner, finished fourth, while Charles Leclerc, who was running fifth until the last ten laps, was overtaken by Kimi Antonelli and his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who fitted the soft tires for the last laps, trying to get the Mercedes driver. Hamilton, though, had break issue in the second-to-last lap and let Leclerc back in front of him to get sixth.

Fernando Alonso, Carlos Sainz, and Oliver Bearman completed the top 10.
Despite not winning the race, McLaren’s points were enough for them to clinch the Constructor’s Championship. In the drivers’ standings, Piastri extended his lead to 22 points — he now sits on 336, followed by Norris with 314. Verstappen remains third with 273 points, while Russell has closed the gap, climbing to 237. The Formula 1 season continues in two weeks with the United States Grand Prix in Texas on October 19.
