George Russell claimed a thrilling victory at the Canadian Grand Prix, surviving late drama and finishing under safety car conditions after a clash between McLaren teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Driving with poise and precision, the Mercedes driver fended off a charging Max Verstappen and the impressive Kimi Antonelli, securing a well-earned win at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve after a race that burst to life in the final 15 laps.
For much of the 70-lap contest, the race was a tactical affair with teams closely watching tyre strategy. But tension erupted in the closing stages when Norris collided with Piastri on the pit straight while battling for fourth. The incident forced Norris into retirement, while Piastri managed to continue with no visible damage to his McLaren MCL39.

The contact triggered a late safety car, neutralizing the race and allowing Russell to cruise to the finish. The result marks a major boost for Mercedes, who have struggled to consistently challenge for wins this season.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton’s struggles continued, as he wrestled with what appeared to be an underperforming Ferrari-powered car. Elsewhere, Fernando Alonso and Nico Hülkenberg impressed once again, both securing back-to-back points finishes.
