Liverpool’s star player, Mohamed Salah, is reportedly getting closer to signing a new contract with the club, as revealed by Anfield Watch journalist Steve Kelly. It is suggested that the Egyptian winger is now leaning more towards staying at Anfield, dismissing speculations about a transfer to Saudi Arabia.
The Reds are enjoying an excellent campaign, leading the Premier League standings after 20 matches, and a return to the Champions League next season seems highly likely.
According to the information, Salah is positively inclined towards renewing his contract, prompting a shift in Liverpool’s transfer strategy. Previously, the club had been actively exploring options for a replacement for Salah. However, with the latest developments, the Merseysiders will halt their search for a winger.
Last summer, Saudi Arabian champions Al Ittihad made a £150 million offer, which Liverpool rejected, asserting their firm stance that Salah is not for sale. Earlier reports had suggested that a new Saudi club was prepared to lure him away in the summer.
Salah’s current contract, in which he earns around £350,000 per week, expires in the summer of 2025.
