For the 2nd time in 4 seasons, San Francisco 49ers manager Kyle Shanahan entered a deathly silent locker room with the difficult task of comforting his players who lost another Super Bowl clash.
"When you go against guys like Tom Brady and Pat Mahomes, you never feel comfortable with the lead."

For example, after the 49ers had a 10-point 4th quarter lead vs. the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV, Shanahan realized the same thing after this year’s 25-25 OT defeat to the same team in Super Bowl LVIII.
“I can’t say anything different,” the 49ers manager admitted. “I don’t care how you’ve been defeated when you lose Super Bowls, especially ones you believe you can triumph, it hurts. But I think when you’re in the league, I believe every organization must hurt except for 1 at the end. We’ve gotten so close to the victory, but we haven’t pulled it off, and we will need time to heal now.”
Despite San Francisco advancing to at least the NFC Championship Game in 4 of the last 5 campaigns, their wait for the Super Bowl trophy continues.
