The top-ranked golfer, Scottie Scheffler, was arrested by Louisville Metro Police today after trying to drive into the entrance of Valhalla Golf Club.
Traffic outside the venue had been stopped after a man was struck and killed by a shuttle bus in the morning.
The world number 1 faces charges of 2nd-degree assault of a policeman, 3rd-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals.
The city major revealed Scottie was released without bail after that and that the golfer had arrived at Valhalla minutes before he was scheduled to play.
“In the morning morning, I was doing what the police officers told me to,” the world number 1 announced. “It was not an easy episode, understandably because of the tragic accident that happened before that, and there was a miscommunication about what I believed I was being told to do. It was not my intention to disregard any of the instructions. I will do everything possible to put this to the side and focus on playing at the tournament.”
“Right now, he’s going to jail.”
Truly extraordinary video of Scottie Scheffler being arrested this morning at Valhalla Golf Club.
