The Seattle Seahawks will start the defense of the Super Bowl trophy vs. the organization they beat to win it.
Over half a year after Seattle defeated New England to secure Super Bowl LX, the champs will host Drake Maye and the Patriots in the 2026 NFL campaign opener on September 9th.
The game was among many huge reveals today as NFL franchises shared their schedules after the NFL’s full announcement of its 272-match slate.
It will be the 3rd time the organizations in the previous campaign’s Super Bowl will face each other in Week 1 of the next campaign, and the 2nd time they will do it in the 1st match of the season. The only other time was 10 years ago, when the Broncos defeated the Panthers after beating them in the Super Bowl a few months earlier.
The Seahawks will try to do exactly that against the Pats, and the odds are on their side as the defending champions are 16-5 on the opener in the past over 20 years.
It will also be held on the 1st match in Melbourne, Australia, during the Wednesday night opener.
