Brady Tkachuk scored twice for a second time this season, while Mathieu Joseph, Vladimir Tarasenko and Tim Stützle added a goal of their own. Goaltender Jonas Korpisalo made 22 saves.
“Two games of playing our type of hockey,” Tkachuk said. “That’s just been our goal. We don’t care about wins or losses, it’s just how quickly we get to our game. I think we’ve shown that we’re starting to find it now, and I think we’re going to keep building on it.”
For the Lightning Anthony Cirelli and Tanner Jeannot, while goaltender Matt Tomkins made 33 saves in his NHL debut.
It was relatively close game until midway through, as the Senators were leading only by a goal, but then Tkachuk’s brilliance kicked in as he was able to give his team a breathing room.
Next up for Ottawa is a match against Washington on Wednesday night, while the Senators visit Buffalo on Tuesday night.
