Sergio Pérez is reportedly set to part ways with Red Bull Racing at the conclusion of the 2024 Formula 1 season, according to sources cited by ESPN. The decision comes after prolonged speculation about Pérez’s future, with team principal Christian Horner hinting at an imminent change following the Qatar Grand Prix.

When asked about Pérez’s prospects, Horner remarked, “I’m going to let Checo come to his own conclusions; nobody’s forcing him one way or another. It’s not a nice situation for him to obviously be in.” Discussions between Pérez, Horner, and Red Bull racing adviser Helmut Marko are scheduled for December 9, one day after the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
While Pérez’s contract extension for 2025 prevents an outright dismissal, Red Bull reportedly plans to offer him an ambassadorial role, a path similar to the one Daniel Ricciardo declined when leaving the team in September. The move would allow Red Bull to restructure its lineup without a direct termination.
Liam Lawson, who impressed during his stint replacing Ricciardo at the U.S. Grand Prix, is seen as the leading candidate to take Pérez’s place.
