Italian Serie A clubs have accepted a 4.5 billion euro offer from DAZN and Sky to buy the TV rights to the Italian football championship for the next five years, the league announced after a meeting in Milan.
According to its announcement, 17 of the 20 teams in the league have voted in favor of the deal, which will take effect from the start of the 2024/25 season.
The new contract will allow the clubs to share 900 million euros per season. 700 of them will come from DAZN, and the remaining 200 from Sky. DAZN will hold the rights to all 10 matches, while Sky will broadcast three matches per round.
However, the sum of 900 million euros is the minimum that the clubs will receive. With the fulfillment of some conditions, it can be increased, but the maximum value is not shared to the media.
The current TV rights deal in Italy brings the clubs 930 million euros a year, as the majority of the sum comes from DAZN.
