The doubles game will decide the battle for a spot in the final

Jannik Sinner defeated world No. 1 Novak Djokovic to keep Italy’s Davis Cup final hopes alive. The Italian’s top player defeated the Serbian for the second time this month, having done so earlier in the group stage at the ATP Finals, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.

Sinner played a great first set and after two breaks got the needed advantage. The second part was almost identical to the first, but with the opposite direction and Djokovic won 6:2.

The key moment in the decisive third set came at 5-5 and the Italian’s serve, when Djokovic had three break points, but with great serves Sinner saved his game before getting a break himself and closed things out on his serve in the 12th game. With the win Italy leveled at 1-1 as earlier Miomir Kecmanovic defeated Lorenzo Musetti 6:7 (7), 6:2, 6:1.

In the decisive doubles clash, Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego will play for the Italians, while Djokovic and Kecmanovic are in the Serbian lineup. The winner will face Australia in contention for the trophy.
